Nobody gives better Parties than my parents, they dance until the Sun comes up

December 18, 1964, Friday

Finished my Sociology term paper and gave it to Mike Stone to hand it for me. Tonight was my parents annual Christmas party. Pearl and I came because naturally, we weren’t going out. Everyone asked us why we were home on a Friday night, it made me feel so unpopular! There were so many people here with tons of food and drinks. Pearl and I had a great time dancing and teasing the old me. We even drank! We heard so many dirty jokes and it was bitchen hearing and watching great men, like “Casanova Charlie Louis,” Gene Benz and Ben Benson. Then to top it off, two guys showed up, my old boyfriend, Howard Gertz and his right hand man, “The Bob.” We almost died, because they came over about 3:00 in the morning, but, the party lasted until 5:00 after breakfast was served.

My dad looking pretty drunk, saying Goodbye to some people.  My parents parties always lasted until 5:00 in the morning.  Dinner was served at midnight and breakfast at dawn.  A few people stayed on and the party continued through the weekend.

One thing I have to say about my parents parties was the music was non stop Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and they let us play our music as well, like the Rolling Stones and the Supremes.Christmas family pictures 013Charlie Lewis always dressed up as Santa Claus during the Christmas party and everyone sat on his lap and got a gift out of a giant Christmas stocking.  This picture was taken Christmas 1968.  My dad, my parents Attorney, Vince Akin, Charlie Lewis, my mother, Pauline and my little sister Billee.
