College guys with money were uncool jerks

July 8, 1964, Wednesday. Dave says he still likes me, but, Bryon’s been asking about me.

My sister Donna and I went to the beach at Toes today. Just the two of us. We’re getting to be good pals now that she’s older. I saw Jack and Phil, but they were cold to me. Phil asked if Sandy and I drove by Jack’s house last Friday night. He said he saw us stop in front of the house. I denied it, but it was us!!! I about died. Donna and I laid on the beach and Howard stayed with us. He just came back from Tijuana again and said he ran over an old man, but left the scene of the crime. I hope he was lying this time. He acted too friendly… I’m not interested in him anymore… I’ve grown out of my infatuation. Dave D. called and said Bryon was asking about me. Dave gave him my number. Say’s he’s going to ask me out when he gets a new car, but Dave said not to get my hopes up, he’ll probably never get it.

Here is the post I did on me and my friends spying on the the guys  https://saffronsrule.com/2014/01/23/culver-girls-were-prudes-compared-to-westchester-girls-so-we-got-dumped/

Bryon never asked me out, because he’d heard from his buddies that I liked guys with money and a nice cars. But, that never was a priority with me. I bet I lost out on a lot of nice guys because of that rumor.  I liked surfers and musicians around my own age, but that meant no job, little money and maybe no car…
