I knew it was only a matter of time before my boyfriend dumped me for one of my best friends

May 5, 1964, Tuesday. Saffron Club Night. I can’t stand the way Marilyn flirts with Dave.

After school I came home and worked on my play review. Went to Saffron Meeting. We got two Saffrons in Pep Squad this year. Sandy Block didn’t make it. She wanted it so bad too. But Sandy Quartie and Lynn Sperie made Pom-Pom girls. Marilyn is having a Saffron party at her house, couples only. I’m asking Dave. Went to Fosters, but, Dave and Jack never came because some boy hung them up. So, Marilyn, Jacky and I went up to Jacks. Dave was there and Marilyn flirted with him so much. I hated her. She made a fool of herself by doing exercises and cheers, then wrestled with Jackie and hurt her arm. She started crying and Dave seemed really worried.

Marilyn had just lost 10 lbs and looked fantastic.  I was jealous, because I’d gained weight and felt fat.  She was in the spotlight putting on a show.

But, when she started jumping up and down showing off her big boobs, I was furious and couldn’t believe her nerve.  So much for the Boyfriend Code of Ethics.

More of a Guy’s Girl, a Tom-Boy type, Uninhibited and Free Spirited, Marilyn was a real turn on.  I knew it was only a matter of time before Dave put the moves on her.
