Cops pull me over, do fake sobriety test and ask us to meet them at Winchell’s Donuts

July 14, 1964, Tuesday. This is such a boring Summer for me.

Laid by Lauri’s pool from 9am to 4pm. Went home and got ready for the Saffron meeting. I weigh 120 lbs. I’ve lost 5 lbs and I can’t eat anything, I just drink Tab-Cokes. Went to the meeting and told them I couldn’t get the script to do a show for the Lions Club. We are doing different things. Left and went to Fosters. Got in the car with Bob Fortenberry. Pearl is going out with him tomorrow. Everyone just looked at me. Left, saw cute Cops and waved at them. They stopped us. I was so scared. They said I looked too young to drive. They just wanted to talk to us. They told us to meet them at Midnight at Winchell’s Donuts. They made Angie walk a straight line to see how tall she was. Pearl and I went to the Wich Stand, Tiny Nailor’s and Robert’s, but no cute boys were there.

Image LA Cops pulling my 57 Chevy over,  just to check us out and fake a sobriety test.     They were cute, but we’d never date a Cop at 17.   So we didn’t meet them at Winchell’s Donut Shop.
