Broke and hungover, Surfers watched cartoons waiting for the Surf to come up

May 23, 1964, Saturday. SAD, SAD DAY. Dave and I are through.

Didn’t get any sleep all night long, because we all slept at Marilyn’s, but I slept in a bed. Got up and left for the beach. I lost the dollar Dave gave me. Picked up Pam. It was freezing out. Got to the beach and everyone was there, even Howard. Went to Jerry’s apartment. There were about ten guy’s watching cartoons. I left at 2:00, because I could tell Dave and I were done. He didn’t talk to me, and told Pam he had a bad time with me last night. I almost cried. I’ll never go out with him again. But I still like him.

Broke and hung-over the Westside Surfers gathered at Jerry’s Apartment at the beach and watched cartoons, waiting for the Surf to come up.

I still liked Dave, but couldn’t stand his moods and lack of affection.  I think he wanted me to figure it out and be the one to break up with him,
