July 23, 1964, Thursday. Met a girl Howard’s been taking out
Bonnie and I went to A&W’s but no good, Byron wasn’t there, but one of the guys in his band talked to us. Told us they were playing at the “Grand” Saturday night. We left and went shopping for formals for the Miss Culver City Coronation. I don’t know who I’m going to ask to go with me, I’m afraid I will never see Byron. I laid away a couple of dresses in about five stores, all black and white and one Orange and White. Went to one store and started talking to this girl who knew all the guys from Westchester. I asked her if she knew Howard and almost died. She’s the Dianne, Howard’s been taking out. She said she heard him talk about me too.
Here is another picture my sister Donna’s friend, Teri Thompson drew of me. She said I looked like a white Diana Ross. I don’t understand why I never went out of my way to find Byron at one of his Band jobs. To much pride. He wasn’t the type to go after a girl, like I was use to. He was a drummer in the Marauder’s and girls flocked to him. He hung out with the Turtles, a soon to be famous Band.
If I had gone after him and become a groupie, I bet he would have asked me out. But I’m sure he heard I was a Prude and didn’t want to bother with me. (How to be a Groupie.) click to see what I wasn’t willing to do to get Byron.
This was the image I was going for. Movie Star…Red Carpet….Strapless, tight and over the top glamorous. A little too much for The Miss Culver City Coronation wouldn’t you say.
