May 8, 1964, Friday. Was so mad at Dave and Mommy I couldn’t stand it.
Well I didn’t go to school. Told Marilyn I’d come about noon, but slept until 11:30, so stayed home all day and worked on my Play review. Got a letter from Unk Ile thanking me for asking all my friends if they liked Maybelline’s Liquid Eyeliner. He said it gave him more perspective on the Teen market. When Lauri came home from school, I went Ice Skating with her, but didn’t skate, instead I did exercises in the “head.” Mommy called me at the Skating Rink and said it was an emergency. All it was, was she wanted me to come home and babysit, so they could go out. I was so mad when I got home, I started crying and throwing my shoes at her. I said some terrible things, then I felt so sorry, because I made her feel so bad. At 10:00 Dave called and wanted me to come to Dan’s, (after he told me he wasn’t going, and asked me not to go.) When I said I couldn’t go he got mad and hung up on me.
Maybelline Commercial 1965
My great uncle Tom Lyle Williams, (Unk Ile,) founder and owner of the Maybelline Company from 1915 to 1968 was introducing a new line of Maybelline products to the Teen Market in 1964 …. right after Ultra Lash was born that year. Here is one of the Teen commercial that came out of my little girlfriend Poll, that let him know how crazy we all were about Ultra Lash Mascara and Ultra liquid Eyeliner.
Maybelline Ultra Lash was born in 1964 and was the product that sent Maybelline’s profit’s off the charts.
Every girl I knew carried Maybelline Black Liquid-Eyeliner in her purse and wanted to look like Jean Shrimpton in 1964.
